San Pedro de Atacama: 4-Day Magic Desert Tour

4.2 (26 verified reviews)

About This Experience

Ruta Chile's four-day package links an airport transfer from El Loa Airport (CJC) to four excursions from San Pedro de Atacama and a transfer back on the last day. Hotels are not included. It starts from $310 per person, the price we also found on a real date on 3 October 2026, and has a 4.2 rating from 26 reviews. One reviewer notes that the Santiago-based provider hands the transfers and tours to local companies in San Pedro.

Day 1 is the airport transfer and an afternoon in Valle de la Luna, a nature sanctuary with the Tres Marías salt formations, salt caverns and a climb up the Great Dune for sunset. To leave time for this, book a flight that lands in Calama before 10:00 am. Day 2 heads south to Laguna Chaxa and its flamingos on the Salar de Atacama, the Miscanti and Miñiques lagoons, the highland village of Socaire and Piedras Rojas.

Day 3 begins in the dark: you reach El Tatio at about 5:35 am, when it is usually below zero, for breakfast and a guided walk among steam columns, fumaroles and boiling pools. You are back in San Pedro around 12:30 pm, and at 2:00 pm you leave for Laguna Cejar, Ojos del Salar and Laguna Tebinquiche, where the day ends at sunset with an aperitif. At the Cejar site, floating is allowed in Laguna Piedra; swimming in Laguna Cejar itself is not.

Day 4 is the transfer to Calama airport or a central part of Calama. A local guide and air-conditioned minivan transport are included, while entrance fees and most food are extra. The operator may reorder the excursions to fit your stay.

What Travelers Say

Rated 4.2/5 by 26 verified GetYourGuide travelers.

4 fantastic tours packed into 3 days, with different guides who were always knowledgeable and enthusiastic! The swim in the Cejar lagoon was freezing but worth it. Bring warm clothes to recover. At the geysers, it was -10°C, but they were equally unmissable. Excellent breakfasts/lunches/aperitifs in special places
